Interests and Security of Azerbaijan and Iran are Inter-related: Iranian President

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend A.Gasimova, D.Khatinoglu / "Interests and security of Azerbaijan and Iran are inter-related," the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejat stated in a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev in Tehran on 16 October.

According to the Iranian leader, thanks to senior officials of the two countries relations between Tehran and Baku are strengthening. "We have always had fraternal and friendly relations with Baku. The development of Azerbaijan and preservation of its security meets our interests, whereas progress of Iran serves to Azerbaijan's interests," Ahmadijat stressed.

Aliyev said that Azerbaijan and Iran have always had friendly relations. Though some forces wished to deteriorate these relations, the two countries expand and consolidate bilateral ties. "I want Iran to continue supporting Azerbaijan in all spheres," President Aliyev said.

Aliyev also stressed that Azerbaijan could consolidate energy relations between Russia and Iran.
