Association on media protection first registered in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, Feb. 4/ Trend R. Meshadihasanli/ For the first time, the Association of Printed Materials and Periodicals on protection of media rights was registered by state in Kyrgyzstan, founders and chairman of board Andrey Miasarov said at Bishkek press conference on Feb. 4.

The association's aim is to protect media rights, to support sale, distribution of newspapers, magazines, books and other periodicals during economic crisis, as well as investigation of foreign and domestic factors hampering development and extension of periodicals in the country, implementation of practical actions, Miasarov said. There were many reasons for establishment of the Association of Printed Materials and Periodicals, such as low indices of Kyrgyz macro economical development, poor customer demand, reduction of advertisement market and marketing.

Several Kyrgyz press employees have entered the association as physical and legal entities, as reported at the press conference. Weak activity of Kyrgyzpocht and Basmasoz firms, distributors of periodical press was also stressed.

"Purposes and intentions of the new organization will be announced in Kyrgyz General Chamber. We will closely cooperate with state agencies. The Association was established for our welfare but not for anybody's personal profit. The market of printed production can not develop without publishing, advertisement agents. I hope together in the interest of press we will be able to change law on VAT and tax remissions having strategic significance for production," Miasarov, chairman of board of the Association of Printed Materials and Periodicals, official representative of  Kyrgyz Media Support Fund, said.
