Azerbaijan's opposition parties intend to continue mass rallies

Azerbaijani opposition parties Musavat and the Popular Front (PFPA) will continue mass actions. The decision was taken at a meeting of the "Musavat" Party's Council, held today, Musavat Party Central Executive Office Head Arif Hajili told Trend.

"We are fully determined to continue mass actions. We will continue consultations with our allies in this direction, but the date has not yet specified. It will be specified after consultations with the allies. By late this week specific decision will be made. Holding the unauthorized rallies will also depend on the decision of the allies," Hajili said.

The opposition Musavat Party and the Popular Front for joint participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections have created the PFPA-Musavat electoral bloc.The opposition bloc intended to hold a mass rally on Oct.17 in front of the Tabriz cinema located in the Nizami district, Baku Executive Power has refused the PFPA-Musavat opposition bloc to grant permission for holding a rally.

Parliamentary elections are scheduled for Nov. 7. Previous legislative elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 electoral constituencies.
