Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is sympathetic to U.S. President Barack Obama's administration in regards to the recent release of secret files by WikiLeaks.

"It could happen to anyone," she said on the The View talk show, the Wall Street Journal reported.

According to Rice, people talk too much about these publications.

"I do not think you have to write everything that you think," she said. "Some restraint would have been helpful."

WikiLeaks, specializing in releasing secret information, was brought back under the spotlight last Monday following the publication of official documents and correspondence written by U.S. diplomats. According to the administration of the website, the disclosure of the documents may reduce confidence in the United States as a diplomatic partner.

Roughly 250,000 secret diplomatic telegrams and letters sent from U.S. diplomatic missions in various countries to the U.S. State Department were transferred via WikiLeaks to the New York Times, Guardian, Spiegel, and several other influential media outlets.
