Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will not resign from politics and is ready for normalization of relations with Russia. He said this after a meeting with the head of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Jean-Claude Mignon in Strasbourg.

"Our political force, the United National Movement, is not leaving anywhere and will remain in politics for a long time," Saakashvili said.

However, he did not rule out that Russia will still have to come in contact with his party.

"Possibly, with me as well", the president said, adding that he is open to contact with everyone, including the Government of Russia.

But the general policy of Georgia towards the West will remain unchanged, Saakashvili said.
