Turkey will support the Egyptian nation which opposes the military coup, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, TRT Haber TV channel reported on Nov.26.
According to the prime minister, Turkey and Egypt are not bound by embassies, but by historical ties.

Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that Turkey will maintain close relations with the Egyptian nation despite deteriorating relations between the countries.

According to the foreign minister, the criticism of the Turkish government against the military coup in Egypt doesn't mean interference in the internal affairs of this country.

On Nov.23, 2013 the Egyptian authorities reduced the level of diplomatic relations with Turkey and demanded that country's ambassador in Cairo left Egypt.

Speaking about the decision made by the military government of Egypt with regard to Turkey, Turkish President Abdullah Gul stressed that the current situation between Turkey and Egypt is of temporary nature.
