BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 12. Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has taken part in and spoken at a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers as part of a working visit to Kyrgyzstan, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan told Trend.

Bayramov hailed the useful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the CIS countries in various fields, including economics, trade, investment, transport, communications, and humanitarian, educational, sports, and other areas.

Touching upon the significance of joint initiatives carried out in collaboration with organizations that contribute to cooperation and strengthening of relationships, the minister talked about the preparations for the CIS Games, scheduled for 2025 in the second-largest Azerbaijani city of Ganja.

He also reminded that 2025 will mark the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism in World War II, and Azerbaijan, which made a significant contribution to that victory, supports the adoption of an action plan to commemorate the event.

Highlighting the importance of meetings in discussing the prospects of multilateral cooperation, Bayramov emphasized the crucial role of regularly held political consultations within the CIS framework.

He expressed confidence that the consultation plan for the following year would make a positive contribution to the development of relations.

Detailed information was provided to the event participants regarding Azerbaijan's initiatives aimed at developing regional transportation and other communications, given that the geographic location of CIS countries offers wide opportunities for transportation corridors.

The discussions also covered efforts to improve railway connections on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars route to develop the East-West corridor, the Alat Free Economic Zone, and the investment opportunities created here. Additionally, the growth potential of the Baku International Sea Trade Port was addressed.

Bayramov expressed satisfaction with the increasing frequency of contacts between Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries in recent times.

He noted that the invitation extended to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to participate as an honorary guest in the V Consultative Meeting of Heads of Central Asian States, which took place last month in Tajikistan, is an indicator of the development of these relations.

The meeting resulted in the adoption of documents.

The Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS has started its work in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, where the participants discuss issues of mutual interest that are high on the cooperation agenda of the CIS.
