The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources drafted a project on afforestation in the area of 6,000h, which will enable to resolve partially a problem of throwing of carbon gas to air, Huseyn Bagirov, the Azerbaijani Minister for Ecology, told journalists on 31 March. Addressing a seminar of the World Bank on carbon financing the Minister appealed to the bank with request to assist in the search of donors.
The budget of the project is $35m. The project was estimated on the base of calculations applied in the world practice in line with the international standards. However, the minister did not rule out a probability for its cut by 5-6 times. At present the similar projects are implemented at own expenses at low cost.
The new project envisages afforestation in the territory of the State Fund, namely in Goychay and Zakatala. There is a ban on cut of trees, as trunks will be comprised of carbon gas absorbed from air.
