Conducting conference in Baku on agro-business investment helps develop entrepreneurship in agrarian sphere  minister

Organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United States (FAO), the Ministry of Agriculture and the East Agriculture Network, the international conference on the investments in the agro-business started its work in Baku. The Agricultural Minister Ismat Abbasov opened the forum by noting that such conferences help the development of the entrepreneurship in the sphere of agriculture, the development of the cooperation and the information change between different countries and international organizations, Trend reports.

Azerbaijan possesses the cooperation experience with FAO from 1995 and Azerbaijan became the member of this organization exactly this year. Till present, more that 5 projects related to the separate spheres of the agrarian sector have been realized in Azerbaijan, told minister.

The Deputy Economic Development Minister Niyazi Safarov spelled out that at present, more than 873,6 thousand families were landowners. The primary goal of the reforms carried out in the agrarian sphere is to create processing enterprises

Only in 2002-2006s, in line with the national fund for entrepreneurship support, privileged finance amounted to 38,9 million manats were disbursed for the realization of 3549 projects, told Safarov.

The conference brought together the representatives of the business structures of tha country, international donor organizations such as the World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Asian Development Bank and etc.

The conference consists of three sessions Review of the agrarian sector of Azerbaijan, the potential of the development, practical proposals for investors, credit sources and successful investment projects.
