Azerbaijan stands as an interested side on five appeal lodged to the European Court by its citizens living abroad, Azerbaijan's representative to the European Court on Human rights Chingiz Askarov said to journalists on Feb. 20.

Four appeals were lodges against Russia and one against Nederland due to infringement of rights of freedom and extradition.

Since 2002, over 1,600 appeals have been submitted to the European Court. Most of the appeals were rejected.

The European Court made 16 decisions against Azerbaijan. These decisions are due to infringement of property rights, non-fulfillment of court decisions, rejection to register NGOs, infringement of right to assemble, right for fair judicial inquiry and other infringements.
