Iran 's Revolutionary Guard Corps' (IRGC) Brigadier General Abbasali Jannesari was killed during clashes with the PJAK terrorist group, Fars News Agency reported.
IRGC has started the military operation against the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK) in the north-western region of the country.
The Iranian wing of the Kurdish faction of the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK) is active in the Iranian province of Kurdistan. The goal of the group is the secession of Kurdistan from Iran.
PJAK announced the ceasefire recently, but IRGC demanded that President of the Kurdistan Region in Iraq Masoud Barzani as intermediator between Iran and PJAK to clear up the content of PJAK terrorist group plea to ceasefire.
IRGC released a statement on Tuesday that "Since the content of PJAK terrorist group unilateral ceasefire plea has not been cleared up, it is necessary for the government of Kurdish Iraq to announce the content of plea immediately," the statement said. "It's inevitable that after defining ceasefire plea Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps will officially announce its position over the issue."
According to the U.S. authorities, acting on the Iranian-Turkish and the Iranian-Iraqi borders the PJAK Party is controlled by the separatist Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which the U.S. considers a terrorist organization.
In February 2009, the U.S. Treasury Department included PJAK into the list of terrorist groups. In addition, financial sanctions were imposed against it.
