The volume of foreign trade between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan decreased by 7 percent in the first 5 months of 2021, compared to the same period of 2020, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan told Trend.
According to the ministry, the foreign trade surplus in the reporting period amounted to $11.8 million.
“From January through May of this year, exports to Azerbaijan decreased by 11.8 percent compared to the same period of 2020. In the structure of exports, textile products accounted for 28.5 percent, copper products - 17.1 percent, food products - 17.1 percent, air conditioners and refrigeration units - 12.7 percent, monitors and projectors - 7.7 percent. Since early 2021, there has been no import of machinery and technological equipment from Azerbaijan,” the ministry said.
“In 2020, the foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan with Azerbaijan amounted to $83.5 million, having increased by 13 percent compared to 2019. At the same time, the foreign trade surplus amounted to $24.5 million,” the report said.
“Uzbekistan's exports to Azerbaijan increased by 4 percent in 2020. The main volume fell on textile products, the export of which increased by 16 percent. The next positions in the export structure are occupied by copper products (an increase of 7.3 percent), cars (an increase of 18.9 percent), fruits and vegetables (a decrease of 13.7 percent), monitors and projectors (an increase of 31.5 percent), air conditioners and refrigeration units (reduction by 25.5 percent),” said the ministry.
