Azerbaijan's GoldenPay sees increase in turnover

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 22

By Sadraddin Agdzhaev - Trend:

Turnover of the payment company GoldenPay (Hesab.az) increased by 48 percent over the first 6 months of 2021, compared to the same period of 2020, the chairwoman of the Management Board of GoldenPay Naina Mehdiyeva told Trend.

Over the first 6 months of 2021, the company's profit increased by 71 percent and net profit – by 90 percent, compared to the same period of 2020.

"The main share of transactions is accounted for payments for replenishing the mobile balance, paying for utilities and the Internet, as well as a landline phone. During this period, payments for banking services increased as well," Mehdiyeva added.

Today Hesab.az platform functions not only as an online payment platform but also as an online services platform.

"In August 2021, our mobile application was presented to the users with an updated design. Now the application surpasses the previous version both in functionality and in the number of new services. These services include the possibility of paying for insurance and travel products, VAT refund, using the SMS radar service, online tracking of the PASHA Bank card balance, buying tickets, and a number of other services,” the chairwoman said.

"GoldenPay became the first company in Azerbaijan to integrate Open Banking services (open banking is a concept that consists in using open APIs in the financial sector) into the non-banking sector by signing a corresponding agreement with Bank Respublika in 2021. Now the clients of this bank can track their accounts on Hesab.az," Mehdiyeva said.

It is also planned to launch the Hesab Shop online shopping platform in the future, she added.

"Hesab Shop is an online shopping platform that will act as an intermediary between sellers and buyers, offering books, clothing, household items, electronics, toys, and many other goods. Various brands, sellers, and even manufacturers will be able to present their products to a wider audience by opening an online store for their business on Hesab Shop. The launch of the project will allow purchasing goods from different suppliers from the same platform. We are confident that this project will contribute to the field of online shopping in our country," said the chairwoman of the company's Management Board.

We should note that at the time of the launch of the GoldenPay payment system, there was no non-cash payment market in Azerbaijan yet.

GoldenPay provides entrepreneurs with the opportunity to accept payments online, Mehdiyeva noted.

"Banks or portals, enterprises of various directions receive technological solutions through GoldenPay for accepting non-cash payments. Today, we provide this service to a number of organizations operating in Azerbaijan. Our partner network includes the leading applications of the country, such as ABB Mobile, BirBank, Pasha Mobile Bank, Rabitabank Mobile, Ubank by Unibank, “ASAN Ödəniş”, Premium Bank Mobile, ExpressPay, CIB.az, and many others," she concluded.
