BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 27. The development of a green economy will boost the strengthening of mutually beneficial relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, Senior Advisor of the Center of Analysis of International Relations of Azerbaijan Shahmar Hajiyev said at the "Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan: New prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation" online conference, Trend reports.
He noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have seen significant progress in recent years.
"According to last year’s results, the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 27 percent. The nations also aim to raise this turnover to $1 billion," Hajiyev said.
The senior advisor also highlighted that Azerbaijan was among the top 20 countries exporting to Uzbekistan from January through March.
Baku hosts the "Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan: New prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation" online conference. The event is organized by the Center and the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan.
Moreover, the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan business forum took place in Tashkent on August 22, resulting in a project portfolio worth $2 billion. The following day, during President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Tashkent, he and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with business representatives from both countries. As a result, seven projects worth $520 million were prepared for launch.
