Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 March / Trend corr A. Badalova/ Italian steel equipment manufacturer Danieli has signed a contract in the sum of €220 mln ($334 mln) in Azerbaijan, Reuters quoted the company.
Through the agreement with Det.Al Limited, Danieli will supply equipment and technology to the steel complex and aluminium plant in Ganja.
Construction of Det.Al Limited's aluminium plant will be implemented by the Chinese company CNEC. The investment period covers 2008-2009, during which a total amount of $230mln is expected to be invested in the construction.
Introduction of up-to-date equipment will dramatically decrease the environmental impact (up to 98% of waste will not be expelled into the air), and will increase the power intensity of the plant; production of each 1,000 tons of aluminium will require 13,600 kilowatt-hour of electric power, which is by 6,000 kilowatt-hour less than the most powerful aluminium plant in the CIS.
