Azerbaijan, Baku, 19 September /corr. Trend S.Babayeva / The production of grains, excluding corn, in Azerbaijan as of 1 September composed 2.3mln tons from planted area of 860,200 ha. Productivity was 27.1 metric centners to each hectare.
Despite that the collection of grain in the regions completes, the harvest of corn still continues. The production of corn already reached 67,100 tons, which makes up 43.5% or 14,600 ha from the area, which is subject to the collection. Taking into account the corn, in Azerbaijan the collection of grains and grain-leguminous increased by 517,000 tons or 27.5% and reached 2.4mln tons.
Earlier Azerbaijan's Minister of Agriculture, Ismet Abbasov, forecasted record indicator of grain production in the country this year, which will cover 80-85% of country's annual demand which makes up nearly 1.6mln tons.
