Turkmenistan familiarizes with GPP

Director General of the Global Partnership Program (GPP) Troy Lulashnyk presenting also Canadian Foreign Ministry's delegation holds the talks with the Turkmen government in Ashgabat, the official Turkmen source said.

Exchange of opinions was held in the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Public Health of Turkmenistan.

GPP was initiated at the Big Eight Summit in Kananaskis town of Canada in 2002. Canada played the leading role to work out the principles and key trends followed by GPP participants in their activity.

Radioactive substances was utilized, weapons accumulated during cold war, big reserves of highly enriched uranium and arms plutonium were liquidated in some former Soviet countries in the practical plan as a part of GPP.

Turkmenistan proclaimed positive neutrality and defence adequacy policy after breakdown of the USSR.
