Parliament of Kazakhstan approves two bills on cooperation with UAE

On June 17 at its plenary session, the Parliament of Kazakhstan approved two bills "On ratification of Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on opening of the Islamic Bank in the Republic of Kazakhstan" and "On ratification of Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates concerning construction of Abu Dhabi Plaza complex in Astana, Trend correspondent in the Kazakh capital reported.

As reported formerly, the Al-Hilyal Bank will open its branch in Kazakhstan. The authorized capital of the new branch totals $1.1 billion.

Also, it was reported that construction of a residential complex Abu Dhabi Plaza in Astana will begin in a month.

Author of the project of multifunctional complex Abu Dhabi Plaza in Astana is the famous British architect Norman Foster, who is the author of the project of the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation in the Kazakh capital.

Abu Dhabi Plaza will consist of several towers, the highest of which is 382 meters in height (88 floors). This will be the highest building in Central Asia and 14th in the world in height," said the Minister of Industry and Trade of Kazakhstan Aset Isekeshev.

The cost of the project totals more than $1 billion. "Abu Dhabi Plaza will be built by the Aldar Properties Company - one of the leading construction companies in UAE. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2012.

Kazakhstan allocated land for the construction in a prestigious district of Astana. Construction is scheduled to begin in July this year.
