The captain and crew of the AFRO STAR ship paid the fine worth 10,000 lari, imposed on the captain by the Poti city court and 4,000 lari ($ 1 = 1.68 lari) bail for each of the six crew members, after which they were released. The court confiscated 1,255 tons of scrap metal.
AFRO STAR, sailing under the Cambodian flag, was detained by the Georgian Coast Guard on August 18 due to entering the territorial waters of Abkhazia.
