Uzbekistan to increase minimum prices for alcoholic beverages in 2011

Uzbekistan will increase the minimum wholesale and retail prices for alcoholic beverages, except beer in 2011, a source in the State Tax Committee told Trend with reference to the decree of the Finance Ministry and the State Tax Committee.

In line with the decree, the minimum wholesale prices for wine for producers grew from 1,800 soums to 2,000 soums per liter and retail prices from 2,400 soums and 2,500 soums per liter.

From 1 January, the minimum wholesale prices for cognac, vodka and other alcohol products will increase from 3,800 soums to 4,300 soums and retail prices from 5,000 soums and 5,400 soums per liter.

The alcohol producers will be fined for violation of this norm. The size of fine was set at the volume of 20% of the cost of realized products, but it should not be lower than 200-minimum size of salary.

In case of repeat of violation within a year, the fine will increase to 50% of the cost of realized product, but not lower than 300-minimum size of salary.

Currently, the size of minimum wage in Uzbekistan is 49,735 soums per month.
