Uzbekistan increased industrial production by 4.9 percent in January 2011 compared to 3.1 percent in the same period of 2010, the State Statistics Committee said. The State Statistics Committee underlined that the volume of industrial output in Uzbekistan reached 2.748 trillion soums in January 2011.
The committee said that high growth was achieved in such sectors as power sector - 0.9 percent, ferrous metallurgy - 2.7, non-ferrous metallurgy - 3 percent, chemical and petrochemical - 24.9 percent, construction materials - 12.1 percent, food - 7.9 percent, machinery and metal processing - 6.1 percent and others.
In the light industry output growth hit 5.9 percent, including cotton-cleaning - 3.6 percent, textile, sewing and other sectors of light industry - 10 percent.
The State Statistics Committee said that food industry's output made up 7.9 percent and light flour-grinding- 45.7 percent.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the output in the fuel industry declined by 3.8 percent in January.
As it was reported, Uzbekistan in 2010 produced industrial products at 36.58 trillion soums, or 8.3 percent more than in 2009.
In 2011, the government plans to ensure industrial growth at 9.3 percent compared to 2010.
