The German Knauf International GmbH has opened a gypsum board plant in Kagan, Uzbekistan worth about $51.1 million, Knauf Gips Bukhara, a subsidiary of the Knauf International GmbH, reported on Friday.
The construction was launched in 2008 and completed in June 2011.
The plant's capacity is 20 million square feet of ordinary, moisture-resistant and fire-resistant gypsum boards annually. To date, the company has been operating in test mode.
The German Samo Engineering Company is a contractor for the construction of the plant. The project was financed by direct investments from the German company.
This is the second project in building materials production implemented by Knauf in Uzbekistan.
