The Turkmen Ministry of Railway Transport will conclude the contracts with companies to purchase railway equipment from Great Britain at its own expense.
The corresponding decree was signed by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
In particular, a contract will be signed with Breyk Taim Club LLP to purchase 200 railway points. The deal is expected to be concluded with the Dortmon management LLP to purchase 2,000 trucks.
In general, the document was signed to meet the challenges of the railway in the country, to strengthen the material-technical base and to conduct railway construction operations.
President Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of proper control over the effective exploitation of regularly purchased railway equipment.
While focusing on the importance of further development of the national railway, the Turkmen leader emphasized the need to ensure proper control over the quality and construction rates of new steel lines.
He said that one of the priorities in the development of railway transport is its technological renovation.
The general plan of development of rail transport sector in 2012-2016 was approved a month ago to accelerate the development of rail transport industry of the country, to achieve its fundamental diversification and to create new jobs.
The program envisages the construction of railways in the country "Atamyrat-Imamnazar" and "Gazachak-Shahsenem-Dashoguz," a railway bridge across the Amu Darya "Turkmenabat-Farab", main line for high-speed trains moving between the cities of Turkmenbashi in Balkan velayat (region) and Turkmenabat in Lebap province, as well as numerous other large infrastructure projects.
The North-South project implementation (Turkmenistan, Iran and Kazakhstan are involved) will open the way for European and Asian countries to Central Asia and the Persian Gulf via the shortest and economically advantageous route.
On the other hand, a similar opportunity will appear for transit of goods from the countries in South and south-east Asia, the shores of the Indian Ocean to the countries of Northern and Eastern Europe - through Iran, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Russia.
