Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is interested in expanding the cooperation with Azerbaijan, this was reported at a meeting in Rome with the new FAO Director General Jose Graziano and Azerbaijani deputy minister of agriculture Bahram Aliyev.
"The issues related to the preparation for the 28th European regional conference FAO, to be held in Baku on April 16-20, 2012, an increase in the dynamics of the cooperation and financing the projects in Azerbaijan were discussed at the meeting," a statement issued by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Italy said today.
The delegation of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture took part in the 35th Session of the UN International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), held in Rome on February 22-23.
Bahram Aliyev and IFAD president Kannayo Nwanze discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation, the implementation of new projects in Azerbaijan, which became the first country in the CIS, where the fund has started implementing the projects.
The specific initiatives and proposals for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy in the field of agriculture having a great potential, were discussed at the meeting of the Azerbaijani delegation to Italian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Franco Braga.
