Some 20 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas has been supplied to Iran's power plants since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20), an official in the National Iranian Gas Company stated.
Hassan Montazer Torbati told the Shana News Agency that 12bcm has also been supplied to the industry sector.
Some 23bcm has been consumed by household units since the beginning of the current year, showing a 9-percent rise year on year, he noted.
The capacity of storing fuel at Iranian power plants has surpassed 5.5 million cubic meters (mcm), official in Iran Power Generation, Transmission, and Distribution Management Company (TAVANIR, Gholam-Reza Mehrdad said.
Gholam-Reza Mehrdad told the IRIB that up to one hundred fuel storage facilities have been built so far at power plants.
The stored fuel will be sufficient to keep power plants running for 42 days, he noted.
Iran plans to establish new facilities to boost the storage capacity of oil products by 1.5 billion liters in the current year, which started on March 20, managing director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company said.
"Last year, some 45 million liters of oil products were exported and six billion liters more fuel was transferred to national power plants compared to its preceding year," Jalil Salari told Shana News Agency.
