Turkey increases gold exports

In 2012, Turkey increased its exports of gold 8.64 times compared to 2011, the report by the Gold Miners Association of Turkey published on its website on Monday says.

In 2012, Turkey increased its exports of gold 8.64 times compared to 2011, the report by the Gold Miners Association of Turkey published on its website on Monday says.

According to the report, in 2012, Turkey exported gold worth $12.7 billion against $1.47 billion in 2011.

Last year, the largest amount of gold was exported by Turkey to Iran. Gold exports to this country in 2012 increased by 51.5 per cent compared to 2011, amounting to 120.7 tons.

For the year 2012, Turkey exported to Iran gold worth $6.5 billion, to the UAE $4.2 billion and Switzerland $1 billion.
Gold imports to Turkey in 2012 amounted to $7.3 billion.
