BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2. Iran's imports of non-oil products amounted to 2.4 million tons worth $2.7 billion in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 20, 2024), the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.
During the first month, imports of non-oil products decreased by 11.4 percent in value terms and increased by 33.4 percent in weight terms compared to the same month last year.
Meanwhile, Iran mainly imported corn worth $353 million, pressed soybeans worth $181 million, and cell phones worth $106 million in the first month.
The products Iran mainly imported in the first month were from the UAE, China, Türkiye, the Netherlands, Germany, India, and Hong Kong. Iran imported 78 percent of products by value and 72 percent by weight from the mentioned 7 countries.
Iran's trade turnover amounted to $10.4 billion in the first month. Trade turnover made 47 percent higher than the same month last year.
According to Iran's Customs Administration statistics, in the last Iranian year, imports of products to Iran amounted to 39 million tons worth approximately $66.3 billion. Compared to the previous year, product imports increased by 9.77 percent in value and 4.39 percent in weight.
To note, Iran mainly focuses on importing products needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on the import of products manufactured in the country.
