Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia to sign agreements on implementation of green energy projects

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 2. Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia will sign agreements on the implementation of projects in the fields of green energy, infrastructure, health care, and pharmaceuticals for $18 billion, Trend reports.

The matter was announced during a meeting between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and a delegation from Saudi Arabia headed by Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al-Saud.

The documents will be signed within the framework of the III Tashkent International Investment Forum.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to the further expansion of practical interaction and the implementation of priority investment projects in Uzbekistan.

Both officials noted the high level of trade-economic and investment cooperation achieved and emphasized that the portfolio of joint projects has exceeded $30 billion.

The officials also discussed a fruitful partnership with Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power, the largest investor in the development of the energy sector in Uzbekistan.

At the end of the meeting, the sides paid attention to the promotion of new projects in information and communication technologies, agriculture, and others.

Meanwhile, the current total volume of ACWA Power's investments in energy projects in Uzbekistan amounts to $7.5 billion.
