BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2. Negotiations are underway to launch a regular flight between Tajikistan and the UK, the General Director of Somon Travel Company under Somon Air, Umidjon Saidov told Trend.
He recalled that the governments of Tajikistan and the UK have signed an agreement under which direct, non-stop air service between Dushanbe and London may open soon.
“Negotiations are underway to launch a regular flight between Tajikistan and the UK. The next meeting on this issue will be held in the summer,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, as of January 1, 2024, 224 tourism companies are operating in Tajikistan under licenses issued by the Committee for Tourism Development. Out of them, 41 tourist companies were located in Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast, 106 in Dushanbe City, 45 in Sughd Oblast, 17 in Khatlon Oblast, and 15 in the jurisdiction of cities and districts.
To note, two investment projects aimed at the development of the tourism sector are currently being implemented with the support of the Government of Tajikistan and development partners.
