Kazakhstan has launched production of navigation equipment for GPS and GLONASS systems, which will be used in vehicles, Chairman of Kazakh National Space Agency KazCosmos, Talgat Musabayev told the Kazakh Prime Minister's website.
"We have launched production of user navigation equipment, which will be set in vehicles in order to determine their location at any time. We will use world famous global navigation systems GPS and GLONASS, and later Galileo, which is under development in Europe now. If one of these systems fail, it will be possible to use the second one," he said.
According to KazCosmos, this equipment is produced by National Center of Space Research and Technology and National Company Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary.
Moreover, Kazakhstan has launched regional navigation system based on differential stations. Currently, this system consists of 10 differential stations, a regional center and a mobile differential station.
50 more differential stations will be produced and put into operation by the end of 2013, so the republican differential system will be completely formed.
