Uzbekistan and China have agreed on smooth passage of Uzbekistan's vehicles through the territory of China with a view to create favorable conditions for national road carriers, the Uzbek Agency of Road and River Transport said in a message.

The mutual commitment to create the widest possible opportunities for international road transport between Uzbekistan and China was also noted.

The intergovernmental agreement between Uzbekistan and China on international road transport came into force on Jan. 1, 2018.

The parties granted each other the right to carry out international road transportation on the territory of their states by vehicles registered on the territory of one of the countries along the routes determined by mutual agreement of the competent authorities.

Bilateral and transit transportation will be carried out on the basis of permits issued by the competent authorities of the two countries, which will exchange a mutually agreed number of forms of permits for the carriage of goods.

The agreement is expected to give a positive impetus to the further development of bilateral cooperation, open up new prospects for further expansion of trade and economic ties between the two countries and contribute to the formation of a mutually beneficial transportation market.

Currently, the transportation of goods between Uzbekistan and China is carried out mainly by rail through Kazakh-Chinese checkpoints.
