Iranian county earns $2.5M from exports of purple osier willow

As many as 500 bundles of purple osier willow (Salix purpurea) worth $2.5 million were exported from Iran’s Mahallat County this Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), said Reza Maleki, head of the Markazi Province Industry, Mines and Trade Department, Trend reports via IRNA.

He said that the bundles of purple osier willow were exported to the EU via the Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport.

“The purple osier willow is planted at a 70 hectare area in the county,” he noted. “More than 800,000 branches have been produced this year.”

Flowers and ornamental plants occupy the territory of 910 hectares in the Mahallat County.
