Wagon Pars company in Iran’s Arak province produced 300 passenger and freight railcars last Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), the company’s Executive Director Mohammadreza Mokhtari said, Trend reports via IRNA.

He said that last Iranian year, the company signed contracts for the production of 400 freight and 21 passenger railcars.

He added that the company produced more than 290 freight and 7 passenger railcars.

“The cost of the freight railcars produced in the company is 541 billion rials (about $12.8 million), and the cost of passenger railcars is 271 billion rials (about $6.45 million),” he said.

Despite the economic difficulties such as devaluation, the government’s non-allocation of foreign currency to buy raw materials, as well as the increase in price for raw materials and spare parts, the company never suspended its activity, he noted.

He added that contracts for the production of 1,300 freight and 100 passenger railcars were signed with the producing companies. In case if financial resources are ensured, 22 passenger railcars, 700 freight railcars will be produced and 30 passenger railcars will be repaired next Iranian year (starts March 21, 2020), he noted.

Wagon Pars is one of the key companies in the production of locomotives, subway trains, freight and passenger railcars in Iran.
