Visa Inc. presented its pilot project Tap to Phone in Baku, Trend reports from the event.

The program will allow for paying from a mobile phone or other smart devices (e.g., smart watches) without additional manipulations.

“The project provides for the introduction of a new Visa technology - Tap to Phone, which will enable accepting payments via cards using mobile phones. It is not always cost-effective for banks to purchase and install POS-terminals. Our technology makes it possible to turn a phone into a POS terminal," said Oleksandr Stelmakh, Director on Digital Solution for Ukraine, CIS and Southeast Europe (SEE) at Visa Inc., during a press conference in Baku.

This project has been launched in Ukraine and Belarus to date, and work on its dissemination is ongoing.

"Azerbaijan is also among the countries under discussion for the introduction of the Tap to Phone program. We are planning to launch two more pilot projects in 2020, one of which will be implemented in Azerbaijan," he said.

The program runs on the Android operating system, but is not available on the iOS system due to technical limitations.
