Head of Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade Hossein Modarres Khayabani said that launching industrial and mining projects during the sanctions is a clear message to Iran's enemies that the country hasn't stopped developing, Trend reports via ILNA.

He made the remark during the inauguration ceremony of four major industrial projects, which are part of a bigger plan.

He went on to say that the country's total steel production has doubled in the last six years.

"At the beginning of Hassan Rouhani's first presidential term, the production stood at 14.5 million tons a year, while as of now we plan to reach 28 million tons in 2020," he said.

"Iran's international ranking in steel production has also improved,” he said.

Khayabani also announced the inauguration of the project implemented by the Mobarakeh Steel Company, as well as launch of Sanabad pelleting plant, through Khuzestan Steel company.

“The country's pellet production will reach 54 million tons per year,” he said.
