Turkmenistan, Egypt intend to increase trade turnover

Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry confirmed the two countries' intention to increase trade turnover during their phone conversation, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The ministers discussed the possibilities of expanding trade and economic cooperation and bilateral trade turnover, in particular in the fields of science, education, and culture.

The participants stressed the high level of political and diplomatic relations between the two countries, as well as cooperation within international organizations, in particular, within the United Nations (UN).

In addition, the parties decided to hold an inter-ministerial meeting in the near future.

The issues of overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic and its socio-economic consequences were considered. In this regard, it was decided to use all the necessary scientific, financial and other resources to overcome pandemic.

Earlier, representatives of Turkmenistan and Egypt considered the level of trade and economic relations between the countries and the impact of the pandemic on the world's economies and discussed opportunities for developing the partnership in priority areas, including trade, investment, and the oil and gas sector.
