Exports from Iran's Golestan Province to increase

The exports from Golestan Province (northeastern Iran) may increase with the establishment of the Incheh-Burun Free Trade Zone, Governor of Golestan Province Hadi Haghshenas told Trend.

According to the governor, so far, the project on the establishment of the Incheh-Burun Free Trade Zone has been considered and approved by the Iranian parliament by two times. However, the project was not accepted by the Guardian Council of Iran.

He added that the project is currently being considered by the Guardian Council of Iran, and its members are positive about the establishment of the trade zone in the province.

Haghshenas stressed that Iran's temporary memorandum with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is currently being implemented. According to the memorandum, a lot of products produced in Golestan Province are exported to the EAEU member countries.

“More than 5 million tons of agricultural products are currently produced in Iran's Golestan Province per year,” the governor said.

A total of 110,000 tons of goods worth $68 million were exported through the customs of Iran's Golestan Province during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through November 20, 2020).

A temporary trade memorandum was signed between Iran and the EAEU on October 27, 2019. In accordance with the memorandum, 862 kinds of products will be imported and exported upon preferential tariffs between the two sides.

Iran will export 502 kinds of products and import 360 kinds of products. Iran will export pistachios, kiwi, oil products, raisins, cucumbers, cabbages, dates, medicines, cement, copper, methanol.

Iran will import barley, animal feed, vegetable oil, cathode, etc.
