Turkmenistan signs decree on rice production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11

The rice wedge in Turkmenistan will amount to 18,300 hectares of land in 2021, Trend reports with citing State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

The relevant decree was signed by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the report said.

From the above-mentioned volume of allocated land, it is planned to receive 82,400 tons of crop. In particular, in the Dashoguz region from 8,100 hectares – 35,000 tons of rice, and in the Lebap region from 10,200 hectares - 47,400 tons.

Agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable, and fruits.

The development of agriculture is carried out on a scientific basis. Various types of agricultural crops are grown taking into account the agro-ecological characteristics of the country's regions.

Special attention is paid to increasing the volume of products in Turkmenistan. As a result, in recent years, the country has increased the production of vegetables and fruit, and berries and enlarged the area of perennial plants, vineyards, and greenhouses.
