Some 4,700 tons of tomatoes have been exported from Turkmenistan's Lebap region since the beginning of 2021, Trend reports with reference to Business Turkmenistan information portal.
Thus, the tomatoes were exported to Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
Meanwhile in 2020, 4,974 tons of Turkmen tomatoes were exported.
The export of other food Turkmen food products is also increasing. In particular, since the beginning of 2020 and to this day, more than 4,000 tons of beans and 190,000 tons of mash have been exported to countries such as the UAE, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The production of vegetables in the country increased by 24.8 percent compared to the same period last year, and fruits and berries – by 3.2 percent from January through March 2021.
Large-scale transformations are being carried out in Turkmenistan aimed at improving the efficiency of agriculture, the priority direction of which is the creation of greenhouses and enterprises for processing agricultural raw materials.
Thanks to state support, entrepreneurs and private enterprises in Turkmenistan not only supply domestic markets with high-quality products but also export them abroad.
