Kazakhstan increases production of several ore types

The production volume of iron ores in Kazakhstan amounted to 42.6 million tons from January through August 2021, which 3.8 percent more than during the same period of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

According to the data, iron ores production amounted to 5.1 million tons in August 2021, which is 5 percent less than in August 2020.

Production of copper ores increased by 23.3 percent during the reporting months, having amounted to 81.4 million tons (9.8 million tons in August 2021, an increase by 24.1 percent compared to the same month in 2020).

Production of zinc and copper ores amounted to 4.1 million tons during the reporting period, which indicates a decrease of 13.7 percent compared to the same period of last year.

The production volume of zinc and copper ores was 481,700 tons in August 2021, which is 14.7 percent less in August 2020.

Production of gold ores amounted to 21.3 million tons over the reporting period, which is 31.2 percent more than during the same period of 2020. The volume of gold ores produced in August 2021 was 2.9 million tons, which is 34.3 percent more than in August 2020.

Production of lead and zinc ores amounted to 5.7 million tons, which is 49.3 percent more than during the same period of 2020 (680,000 tons in August 2021, up by 51.4 percent compared to August 2020).

As reported, the production of manganese ores amounted to 766,000 tons, which is 62.7 percent more than during the same period of 2020 (98,800 tons in August 2021, an increase of 15.4 percent compared to August 2020).

Production of chrome ores amounted to 3.7 million tons, which is 14.2 percent less than during the same period of 2020 (414,000 tons in August 2021, a decrease of 27.2 percent compared to August 2020).
