Uzbekistan records increase in exports

The total number of exporting entities in Uzbekistan from January through August 2021 amounted to 5,527 units, which ensured the increase in the volume of exports without gold to $7.8 billion, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee.

Compared to the same period in 2020, the amount of export increased to 36 percent.

In the structure of exports, 82.6 percent out of total export falls on goods, out of which industrial goods made up 30.0 percent, food products, and live animals - 8.7 percent and chemicals and similar products - 7.2 percent.

Due to a decrease in exports to other foreign countries, the share of exports to the CIS countries increased and their share in its total volume amounted to 35.4 percent.

The main partners of Uzbekistan in the export of goods and services were China, Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. Their share in the total export volume reached 64 percent.

In the structure of exports, a significant share of exports falls on the city of Tashkent (26.5 percent or $2.4 billion), and the smallest share was recorded in the Surkhandarya region (1.4 percent or $127.6 million).

The volume of exports of fruit and vegetable products amounted to 948,600 tons and, in value terms, exceeded $548.6 million.

The share of fruits and vegetables in total exports amounted to 5.9 percent.

The main export markets for fruit and vegetable products are Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Pakistan.

Moreover, the export of textile products amounted to $1.8 billion, which amounted to 20.4 percent of the total export volume.

Cotton yarn (55.8 percent), as well as finished knitwear and garments (22.8 percent), account for the main share in the structure of export of textile products. During the reporting period, more than 468 types of textile products were exported to 61 countries of the world.

The largest share of textile exports falls on the Russia ($593 million - 31.3 percent) and China ($475.6 million - 25.1 percent).

The volume of exports of services amounted to $1.6 billion, or 17.4 percent of the total export.

Transport services (70.5 percent), tourism services(13.8 percent), telecommunications, computer and information services (6.9 percent), and other business services (4.4 percent) holds the biggest share of the export of services.
