Iran increases exports to Russia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 22

The exports of Iran to Russia increased by 32 percent in terms of value and 7 percent in terms of volume during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi told Trend.

The spokesman emphasized that Iran exported 417,000 tons of goods worth $220 million to Russia over the 5 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, Iran's exports to Russia amounted to 388,000 tons worth $166 million.

“Moreover, Iran imported 865,000 tons of goods worth $476 million from Russia in the five months, which is a decrease of 11 percent in terms of value and 15 percent in terms of volume compare to the same period last Iranian year,” Latifi added.

So, Iran imported $1 million tons of goods from Russia worth $540 million in the same period last Iranian year, according to him.

As reported, Iran's trade turnover with foreign countries amounted to 59.3 million tons worth $34.2 billion during the first five months of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 38 percent in terms of value and 14 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

So, Iran exported 45.5 million tons of goods worth $176 billion over the 5 months. The exports increased by 63 percent in terms of value and 20 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Within 5 months, Iran imported 13.8 million tons of goods worth $16.6 billion, which is an increase of 21 percent in terms of value and decreased by 5 percent in terms of volume.
