Iran's carpet exports have declined due to low demand from the global market, said the board member of Iran Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association Morteza Miri, Trend reports citing ILNA.
"Iranian exporters are facing problems in trade, while foreigners are having banking and transportation issues with Iran, so all this affected the overall market demand," he said.
Miri admitted that Iran's position as top carpet exporter has shrank to 5th, as India and Afghanistan are now leading the way.
He expressed hope that backed by government's support of the private sector, improved international ties would help boost Iran's carpet exports.
