TEHRAN, Iran, April 27. Iran's watermelon export to Turkey has reached 700 containers per day, causing increased prices in Iran's fruit and vegetable markets, said Vice president of Fruit and Vegetable Union of Iran Esmail Moradian, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"Iran's watermelon export to Turkey has increased since Turkey has reduced its watermelon production, to preserve water resources," he explained.

He pointed out that containers are surrounding fruit markets to transport watermelons to Turkey while the price of watermelon has increased to 85,000 rials (about$2) per kilo.

According to the official, the possible balance in Iran's fruit and vegetable exports, could help prevent serious damage for the domestic market and even help reduce prices.
