BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 17. Iran is ready to strengthen cooperation with Pakistan in the fields of oil, gas, and electricity, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said, Trend reports.

He made the remark at the meeting with Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, Prime Minister of the interim government of Pakistan, on January 16 in Davos, Switzerland.

According to Amir Abdollahian deep and strong relations exist between Iran and Pakistan. The activity of border markets can be further strengthened to develop trade between the two countries.

The FM added that the two countries planned to increase the annual trade turnover to $5 billion. At present, the trade turnover is $2.5 billion. A joint effort can achieve the intended goal.

During the meeting, Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar also stressed that the relations between the two countries are of great importance.

He noted that Islamabad is interested in strengthening bilateral relations with Tehran.

Stating that he shares Iran's pain over the terrorist act committed in Kerman province, the Pakistani minister said that cooperation between the two countries is necessary to limit such terrorist incidents.

On January 3, two explosions occurred in two directions on the way to the cemetery where Iranian general Ghasem Soleimani was buried. As a result of the explosion, 90 people died and 248 people were injured.

In 2020, General Ghasem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was killed as a result of the US attack in Iraq.
