BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 24. Iran’s northern province of Qom exported nearly 199,000 tons of non-oil goods, valued at about $195 million in the first ten months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024), Director General of Qom Province Customs Office Esfandiar Derikvandi said, Trend reports.
According to Derikvandi, the province expanded its export markets to over 30 countries, mainly Iraq, the UAE, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Russia.
He added that the province also diversified its export products to 34 types of goods, including lead, footwear, polystyrene, agricultural products, steel ingots, washing machines, etc.
The director general also pointed out that the revenues of Qom Province’s customs stood at over 8 trillion rials (about $190 million) in 10 months.
Iran’s efforts to boost its non-oil exports amid the US sanctions that limit its oil sales. Iran’s non-oil exports include all products except crude oil, mazut, and white oil.
The latest data from Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) shows that Iran exported about 102 million tons of non-oil products worth $36.4 billion in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023). This represents a 0.68 percent drop in value but a 26.5 percent rise in volume compared to the same period last year.
