(autoinsidernews) - Aston Martins new flagship, the DBRS 9, was caught at the Nurburgring during high speed handling tests. The DBRS 9 is the roadgoing version of the Aston Martin DBS from the new Bond film Casino Royale, out this November.
Based on the DB9, DBRS 9 features a revised front fascia with a new chin spoiler forces more air into an larger oil cooler, a bulging hood. The side sills are lowered and etched with deep grooves. Out back, a new rear diffuser and rear wing helps keep the car anchored. 20-inch wheel finish off the exterior, reports Trend.
The DB9s 6.0L V12 will be upgraded to a rumored 530bhp for the DBRS 9. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual and a wider rear track helps handle the extra power. Bringing the available speed to a halt, ceramic brakes make their Aston debut. In addition to the extra horsepower, the DBRS 9 should be substantially lighter than the DB9, which will lead to significant improvements in performance.
The production DBRS 9 is scheduled to be unveiled at Januarys Detroit Auto Show, and sales are due to start in the spring.
