New Port Likely to Be Constructed in Alat

Within the remove of the all plants and facilities located within the Baku Bay outside the bay, a new sea port is expected to be constructed in the Azerbaijani settlement of Alat (65 km from Baku), Aydin bashirov, Chief of Azerbaijan`s State Caspian shipping Company told Trend today. According to him, a lesser sea port is likely to be constructed in the Baku suburb Zikh, Trend reports. A decision on this issue will be taken in the immediate future.

Moreover, at present, the Caspian Shipping Company is studying areas on the possible location of the new shipbuilding and shipyard facility. According to the preliminary appraisal, this plant is likely to be constructed in Garadagh District of Azerbaijan. The construction area must beat least 20 hectares.

That will be the most up-to-date entertainment. The shipbuilding and shipyard facility is expected to build vessels of all types Azerbaijan may need dry cargo vessels, tankers, yachts, passenger ships, etc. It is not ruled out that the plant will build military ships. The plant`s capacity will be building of ships with a dead weight from 3.000 to 30.000 tons. Negotiations on this issue have already been held with representatives of different countries which have such an experience.

The entertainment is expected to be founded on the basis of the existing four shipyards in the country. Today, these entertainments are located in the Baku bay, however, a decision on removing all these entertainments located in the bay outside the Baku City to is expected to be taken in the nearest future.
