Business Council of GUAM Developing Protocol on Co-operation in Baku

Ismayilova / The participants of the fifth meeting of the Business Council of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM (Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Moldova) held in Baku on the 18th of June are developing the proposals for the further co-operation on the behalf of the entrepreneurship community of the GUAM member countries. The proposals will be submitted to the heads of the GUAM countries for approval.

Georgia released its reform in the tax field of Georgia, and proposed to the Governments of the GUAM countries to study the experience of Georgia, on the improvement of legislation, as well as the investment opportunities for these countries.

The reforms held in the tax field in Georgia within the last year have lead to the simplification of customs. Customs are imposed on several forms of agriculture products for the protection of local production.

Ukraine suggested the holding of investment exhibition-presentations which are much more profitable for further development of co-operation than ordinary exhibitions.

Moldova suggested the establishment of a working group for further discussions and the addressing of international organizations for issuance of permanent grants.

Final protocol is expected to be adopted by the end of the day. The document will then be submitted to the Foreign Ministry and to the Administration of the President.
