Georgia, Tbilisi / Trend corr N. Kirtskhalia / Georgian Energy Minister, Alexander Khetaguri, denied 12 September the reports of Georgian media regarding rise in tariffs for gas supplies from Azerbaijan.
"Increase in tariffs is not a subject of discussion at the current stage of negotiations," Khetaguri said to journalists.
On 12 September, Georgian 'Mze' TV company reported rise in tariffs for Azerbaijani gas supplied to Georgia by $60 per 1,000 cu m had been discussed at the meeting of Georgian Government. Now Georgia imports Azerbaijani gas at $120 per 1,000 cu m.
Khetaguri voiced his surprise for the reports and denied them saying the issue had not been discussed at the today's meeting at all.
"We are negotiating with Azerbaijani side on the volumes of gas supply. There are also other issues, but at the current stage we do not discuss tariffs," he said.
In summer Georgia completely meets its gas demand owing to Azerbaijan. Georgia imports 1.2mln cu m of gas per 24 hours from the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and 1mln cu m per 24 hours from its partners in Shah Deniz project.
